Accreditation program for jails
If you know somebody who is going to jail or prison you are probably wondering what to expect. It’s really hard to find out what life inside the jail is actually like because this isn’t the sort of thing that the sheriff’s office would normally talk about.
The best thing for you to do is find somebody who has been to jail that can help whoever is going to jail prepare themselves well. Knowing how to act behind bars is important because if you don’t you can be a target for other inmates (who are often violent).
Jails probably operate differently from how most people think. Florida, for example, has an accreditation program for jails that ensures that inmates are protected, guards are kept safe and visitors are not allowed to smuggle products in the jail. This is great from a high-level but it doesn’t really answer the question of what life behind bars is really going to be like for you or somebody you know.
You can find real information from ex-inmates of county jails at CountyJail.net. Whether you or somebody you know is going to a county jail on the west coast (Maricopa, Sacramento, etc.) or on the east coast (such as Allegheny, Volusia, etc.) you don’t have to spend time wondering and worrying. Find out what you really need to know!
